Former Navy Secretary Ray Mabus Joins Board of Unimed Holdings

September 19, 2017, NEW YORK, NY

Former Navy Secretary, Miss. Gov. and Ambassador to Saudi Arabia Ray Mabus will join Unimed Holdings, LLC as Co-Chairman of the board and its subsidiaries, Unimed Co-Chairman Michael J. Del Giudice announced today.

As Secretary, Mabus was responsible for an annual budget in excess of $160 billion and over 900,000 Sailors, Marines and civilians. He currently is CEO of The Mabus Group, a strategic advisory firm focused on helping companies, organizations and institutions build resiliency.

Prior to his appointment as Navy Secretary by former President Barack Obama, Mabus served as Ambassador to the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia during President Bill Clinton’s administration. He was elected Governor of the State of Mississippi in 1987.

About Ray Mabus:
Secretary Mabus served as the 75th United States Secretary of the Navy from 2009 to 2017. Mabus previously served as the State Auditor of Mississippi from 1984 to 1988, as the 60th Governor of Mississippi from 1988 to 1992 and as the United States Ambassador to Saudi Arabia from 1994 to 1996.

In addition to his distinguished career as a public servant, Mabus has served as a director or officer of several public companies and several pre-IPO companies. From 2006 to April 2007, he was Chairman and CEO of Foamex International and helped lead it out of bankruptcy. Less than nine months after his appointment, Foamex emerged from Chapter 11. He is an executive fellow at the Harvard Business School and has served as a lecturer at Harvard Law School, a visiting fellow with the Harvard Kennedy School Institute of Politics, a Distinguished Lecturer on the Middle East at the University of Mississippi, and was a member of the RAND Center for Middle East Public Policy and the Council on Foreign Relations.

Mabus graduated summa cum laude from the University of Mississippi with a B.A. in English and Political Science. He earned an M.A. in Political Science from Johns Hopkins University and a J.D., magna cum laude, from Harvard Law School.
